Growth Edge
Coaching Courses
Growth Edge Coaching is for coaches, leadership development experts, leaders, and other humans who are interested in this transformational change. For more than fifteen years, we have used our deep expertise and experience to show others practical ways to have deeper conversations, to ask better questions, and to support real and lasting change.
Under Construction: Growth Edge Coaching for the world we’re in now.
Hello and we’re glad you found your way to our Growth Edge Coaching page. You’ll
notice we have absolutely nothing for you to register for! This is because we’ve
decided that it’s time to deconstruct all of these programs that have been delighting
and transforming coaches and their practice for more than a dozen years now and
recreate them for the moment we’re in now. Because wow what a moment it is.
We know that in this age of AI, of massive disruption, of mapless wandering,
coaches and their clients are all rethinking what their work is, what human work is in
general. We know for sure that supporting the growth of adults who are better able to
handle complexity, uncertainty, and change is still a necessary good in the
world—probably more important than it has ever been. We know that the
developmental dance—learned from Bob Kegan, our own Jennifer Garvey Berger,
and others and practiced tens of thousands of times by all of the Growth Edge
Coaches out there—changes individual lives and creates new possibilities for
collectives. Now we want to take everything we’ve learned in the last dozen years
from our participants, our clients, and our research, and create a set of learning
experiences and community gatherings that are even more magical, even more
transformational.
So from now for the next year—July 2026 to June 2027—we are going to be
learning, experimenting, and hosting conversations. If you’ve taken any Growth Edge
Coaching courses before, we’ll invite you to conversations about what you’re leaning
on these days, what support you need now. If you’ve just found yourself in our
community and are standing outside on the street, come onto our porch and let us
know what you’re needing right now that brought you here and we’ll design with you
in mind. All of you are invited to a series of conversations about adult development
and human work for now that Jennifer will lead in the next months—a kind of (free)
book club for Changing on the Job, second edition.
Practically: If you’re already inside the house as a Growth Edge Coaching alumni,
join here to be on the list of folks we’re going to consult and learn from about our re-creation.

If you’re sitting on the porch and wish you could come inside, sign up for the mailing list that will get you invited to Jennifer’s Changing on the Job book club in the next months. (And don’t worry, everyone inside the house is invited too!)
FAQs
The Growth Edge Coaching approach is built on the foundation of Robert Kegan’s Subject-Object Interview (SOI) alongside Jane Loevinger’s theory of ego development, as interpreted by Bill Torbert and Suzann Cook-Greuter. Unlike the SOI, which primarily served as a research method, the Growth Edge process emphasizes practical application, making it more useful for creating the possibilities for development. For deeper insights into the distinctions between the two see, “Changing on the Job: Developing leaders for complex times” by Jennifer Garvey Berger (Chapter 3).
We have made significant efforts to make sure our courses are priced fairly compared to other offerings in this market, while maintaining the value that these courses offer, both to our faculty and to you as a participant. That being said, we do not want price to be a barrier in attending, and work to be as inclusive as possible when it comes to pricing. Please reach out directly if the cost is prohibitive for you.
In many cases, it is possible to watch the session recording and complete a session learnings form to make up for the missed live session. Homework will always need to be completed in-between sessions. Attendance at live sessions is compulsory for Dancing at the Edge – please do not register if you think you will miss a session.
