Ken is an advisor and entrepreneur based in Sydney, Australia. His greatest professional passion is to help leaders be their most magnificent and principled best when facing challenging and complex conditions. He mentors and coaches senior executives one-on-one and delights in helping top teams shape powerful shared purposes and patterns of working together that lead to true high-performance. In recent years, Ken has devoted increasing time to supporting leaders of selected charitable enterprises (like Social Ventures Australia and the Foundation for Youth Australia), and is fascinated by the challenge of the ‘wicked’, multi-causal issues that the social sector faces. Ken also develops and delivers learning programs focused on strategy, client relationships, negotiation, advanced problem solving and inspirational leadership to a variety of clients, including McKinsey & Company, where he was formerly a Director (senior partner).
During his career with McKinsey, Ken lived and worked in Japan, Korea, Indonesia and Australia. He served as the Office Manager for McKinsey in Indonesia, as well as the Practice Leader for McKinsey’s Global Strategy Practice in Asia. Ken has wide industry experience, having served private sector clients in capital intensive industries (mining, telecom, water, property, metals processing, pulp and paper, food processing and health care) and clients in consumer sectors (banking, telecom, consumer goods, food). He also led several public sector engagements with the World Bank, the Asian Development bank and ASEAN during the aftermath of the Asian Financial Crisis.
Ken graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Commerce degree with First Class Honours and the University Medal. He has a graduate diploma from the Securities Institute of Australia. Ken studied as a Commonwealth Postgraduate Scholar at London Business School. He graduated with Distinction, with a Master of Science degree in Economics. More recently Ken has trained as an executive coach at the Hudson Institute in Santa Barbara. He is a certified assessor of The Leadership Circle Profile.
Ken lives on the foreshores of Sydney harbour. He and his wife Janice are passionate about travel, adventure, and sailing. Now that their three kids are (mostly) independent they are planning to sail their catamaran- RESOLUTE – from Sydney to the Caribbean.
Ken has an extraordinary ability to see patterns and make sense of the world, and a beautiful ability to put his insights in words that inspire. Ken connects genuinely and deeply with people. Ken is as selfless as could be in his kind of profession, and very concerned about the common good. Ken's search for meaning is fierce and relentless.
